Voting fever

May 25th 2010 ... D-Day in Suriname! You can see, smell and feel the “presidential election fever”.

Well attended meetings, different political flags everywhere and many fanatics walking around in outfits of their favorite party. That's the image in the streets.

When it comes down to picking a political party we have plenty of choices. The presidential candidates vary; from entrepenuers, scientists, convicts, a formel rebel leader, a “wanted by interpol” dictator, to doctors, teachers and even a clergyman.

Non of the parties is expected to get the majority of votes, but everything will revolve around who will team up with who.

Suriname is known to organize the most peacefull elections in the region. An influential contribution may be the interesting fact that it is prohibited to sell and consume alcohol. This interdiction started today at 00.00 h and is valid till tomorrow 00.00 h

Some of the Spang Makkers were so excited, that they were on the front row, by the time the polling stations opened their doors.

We all hope for the best and wish that the party, which has the best intensions with Suriname, wins.
