Nickerie fieldtrip about the project "Distance learning for rural Surinamese youth"

On November 19, 2011 an informational meeting was held in Nickerie about the project “Distance learning for rural Surinamese youth”.

Attendees, representing various NGO's, received a warm welcome from Vincent Kenswil (Director Spang Makandra), who then presented the big picture involving the project; concerning the Campus, the various companies which will be established there, the "aid for trade" principle and learning within a creative and inspiring environment.

After that, Wendy Dissels (trainer SpangCampus) gave a presentation on the project “Distance learning for rural Surinamese Youth”. She explained the purpose and content of the project,  presented the profile of the targetgroup and the recruitment and selection procedures.

Through the activities led by Marjorie Grantsaan (trainer SpangCampus), the representatives of the NGO's got a sneak preview at the professionel methods which will be used for training the participants.
This gave the SpangCampus staff the opportunity to obtain as much information as possible from the community and the NGO's. This information is very important in achieving a solid Distance learning program.
First an introductary game was played during which it became clear very soon, how much people have in common.
In the closing sessions, small groups were formed and every group received a question or a statement to be reflected on. The results were subsequently presented to the whole group and, if needed,  supplemented.

It was a successful meeting in which the NGOs made a great contribution and they commited themselves to making applications for the program.
