One of the newest addictions in the field of technology in Suriname are the Blackberry smart phones. With a Blackberry you are online (accessible) anywhere, which makes it easy for your family, friends and colleagues to keep in touch with you. Basically everywhere you go, you can hear or see people 'ping-ing'. The question most people ask each other is: "What is your pin?"

Telecom Provider Uniqa had started with testing 3G (third generation) technology in April of this year. Soon it will be possible in certain districts of Suriname to have a high-speed Internet connection using this technology.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab, The Blackberry Playbook and of course the Apple Ipad are some of the most heard about tablets out there, but what are they ? And why would you use one ? What's up with all of the hype ?

Lets start :

What is a tablet ?
Different people have different answers to this question, and some of them are :
-It's a laptop with the keyboard hacked off
-It's the love child of a PDA and laptop.
-It's a portable PC in the form of a slate that makes use of a touch sensitive surface which the user can use to input data.

Wat is WiFi?
WiFi is een technologie waarmee het mogelijk is op korte afstand draadloos gegevens te versturen. Vanwege deze korte afstand is het ideaal voor gebruik thuis of op het kantoor, er hoeven geen kabels meer getrokken te worden.Hierdoor kunt u bijvoorbeeld met een laptop in de tuin internetten.

Wat betekent WiFi?
WiFi staat voor Wireless Fidelity en wordt ook wel W-Lan genoemd (Wireless-Local Area Network). De naam WiFi, ook wel geschreven als wifi of Wi-Fi is gerelateerd aan de bekende term Hi-Fi uit de audiowereld, hetgeen staan voor High Fidelity. Met de techniek wordt data draadloos op de 2.4 GHz-frequentie verzonden. Het signaal is digitaal en wordt gecodeerd volgens het IEEE 802.11 protocol. Dat is een internationale norm voor het versturen van digitale gegevens door de lucht. Van deze standaard bestaan verschillende varianten.
